Experience Some of the Best of the "New South."
Buckhead combines some of the best of the dynamic and driven "New South" with old-fashioned
southern charm and hospitality. One of the Northeast suburbs of Atlanta, Buckhead
offers easy access to the culture, business, art, and entertainment opportunities
of Georgia's largest city while offering up a small-town feel of its own. For this
reason, many of the Atlanta-area's most prominent citizens live in Buckhead. The
American InterContinental University campus is right in the heart of Buckhead on
Peachtree Road and less than one-half a block from a MARTA station.
Within a few short blocks of the school's campus, AIU Buckhead students can peruse
fashion boutiques run by AIU Buckhead alumni, intern at a recording studio or interior
design firm, or grab a meal at a restaurant owned by a major recording artist. Jump
on MARTA or into your car and head into Atlanta itself for museums (Atlanta has
museums on subjects ranging from civil rights to beverages), music (the Ying Yang
Twins, Ludacris, Outkast, and Monica all call Atlanta home as do several prominent
records labels), sporting events, or a bite to eat at the world's largest drive-in
restaurant (The Varsity).
But Buckhead and Atlanta aren't just great spots for fun. Atlanta is a major center
of regional commerce and one of the fastest-growing economies in the South. Kiplinger's
recently recognized this and ranked Atlanta as the fourth "smartest city" in which
to live. The rankings were based on factors such as cost of living, economic growth,
and cultural activities. Several major national and international companies have
chosen to headquarter themselves here including Coca-Cola, Home Dept, BellSouth,
United Parcel Service, and Delta Air Lines. AIU Buckhead Career Services has relationships
with all these companies and more, and many of AIU Buckhead's faculty members have
worked as executives for some of them. Buckhead and Atlanta are the ideal extended
classroom for AIU students.
